The business was awarded a five-star rating for the seventh year in a row, scoring 99.8 out of 100. This places Cory second out of ten peer businesses in the waste treatment sector, with full marks in the management category, which measures strategy and leadership management, policies and processes, risk management and stakeholder engagement approach. The business also scored 59.8 out of 60 in the performance component which measures performance across 12 aspects, including Health and Safety, energy use, and water.

Dougie Sutherland, CEO of Cory, said: “I am thrilled that Cory has continued to be recognised for our leadership in sustainability and has attained a five-star rating for the seventh year running. Sustainability is ingrained into our culture. This is reflected in everything that we do, from the very small to the significant effort we are investing in our plans to deliver low-carbon heat into central London, and in our project which will capture and store CO2 emissions from our EfW facilities. Real progress comes from the collective effort of our people, and another GRESB five-star rating is a fantastic reflection of the work achieved by our team."

GRESB is the leading Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) benchmark for real estate and infrastructure investments across the world. Its data is used by hundreds of capital providers and thousands of asset managers to benchmark investments across portfolios and to better understand the opportunities, risks and choices that need to be made as the industry transitions to a more sustainable future.
